How it all began
Our founder grew frustrated with the lack of clear answers to legal questions after reporting her assault. She also faced the common problem of feeling overwhelmed and let down by those meant to protect and investigate. After tireless searching for information like "what are my rights?" and "what support is available in my area?", she discovered many helpful organizations and support groups. This led her to think, "How can I make this easier for someone going through something similar? How can they get support quickly when they need it most? How can I remove the burden of researching help?" And so, Beyond Believed was born.

Our story

After experiencing a traumatic event, you should not have to bear the additional burden of researching help and support.

Our founder carefully curated a list of over 100 resources, including crisis centers and legal support groups, to create a platform that makes seeking help more accessible and less daunting.

In 2020, we launched an IFundWomen campaign to build our idea. We received an overwhelming response from 33 generous donors who supported us, enabling us to secure over $6,000 in funding. This helped us kickstart the development of our initial website.

Our website was launched in 2021 with determination and limited resources. The response from survivors and supporters was positive and marked the beginning of our journey.

Our hard work and dedication paid off when we received two prestigious Anthem Awards in 2022. The first award recognized our innovative approach to supporting survivors, while the second award was a personal achievement for our founder, who was named the Young Leader Of the Year. These awards were a validation of the positive impact we were making in our field.

Our AI-powered 'Healing Companions' are now live! They are designed to answer complex questions and provide personalized recommendations. Trained with the extensive resources we've collected over the years, as well as various live internet sources, our companions ensure they offer the best possible support and the most accurate, up-to-date legal information for survivors.
We currently have three companions, Resource Support, Legal Companion, and Teen Companion each unique to meet specific needs in a comforting tone within a safe end-to-end encrypted chat. -

Founder Note
I started Beyond Believed during a time of intense, raw anger, to be completely honest. There are so many amazing organizations and people working tirelessly behind the scenes in legislation, improving laws to support victims and survivors alike. But why, when you look for support, are you met with horrifying statistics followed by a massive donate button? These organizations need financial support and rely on donors to continue their important work. But as a survivor looking for support, you want answers.
I wanted Beyond Believed to be your resourceful big sister, ready to go to battle for you but also tell it to you straight, just like my older sister has always done for me.
Beyond Believed is here to support you with any questions and help find ways that work for you on your healing journey. In many ways, I am still healing, and it is an unpredictable journey. I don’t think I will wake up one day, spin in circles under the bright, warm sun, and shout into the void, “I’m healed!” However, working on Beyond Believed has been very healing for me, turning my pain into purpose.
